All funds raised are used to support the construction and administration of our pilot greenbuilding campus, the Centro Educativo Técnico Chixot, in San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala. At our school we offer modern science based education to 150 students in grades to K-11 in 2019. We give employment to 35 local employees in our construction crew and school staff. Due to the lack of a formal waste management system in Comalapa trash is either burned or thrown into a ravine that pollutes a major watershed. To date, we have used over 440 tons of waste that has been repurposed into the construction of 12 classrooms for our students, a welcome center, a four-stall composting latrine, terraced gardens, a computer lab/library and several thousand feet of tire retaining walls. All buildings have rainwater harvesting capacity to fill up a 42,500-gallon cistern.
Gifts of all sizes make an enormous impact. We pledge to keep administrative costs low so that more of your money goes directly into education, construction materials and local employees' salaries. Thank you for your confidence. With your help we are empowering our community to be the architects of their own future!
Our students at the Centro Educativo Técnico Chixot will form a new generation of entrepreneurs who will be uniquely equipped to lead their communities with innovative solutions for their future.
We are grateful for your support! Thank you!
